Jeffrey McLucas is a graduate of Bates College. Following graduation from Suffolk Law, he spent a year as a law clerk to the Justices of the Superior Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He then joined Parker, Coulter, Daley & White in the fall of 1988 where he subsequently became a partner. Following Parker, Coulter’s dissolution in the fall of 1995 he joined a group of about a dozen former Parker, Coulter attorneys where he practiced until establishing McLucas & West in the spring of 2001.
Attorney McLucas’ practice has two aspects. First, he has a general liability defense practice working with various insurers and self-insured companies. His work includes premises liability, negligent security, products liability and motor vehicle cases along with some toxic or environmental exposure cases. His clients in this area include DeMoulas Supermarkets, UNICCO Service Company, Simon Property Group, Equity Office Properties, Amtrak, the MBTA and St. Paul Travelers.
The other aspect of Attorney McLucas’ practice involves employment and public accommodation discrimination. For example, he has defended virtually all of the Massachusetts discrimination cases for DeMoulas since about 1993. These cases range from sexual harassment and racial discrimination claims to disability discrimination cases brought by employees and customers. Included in this work are some wage and salary cases. He has provided representation to UNICCO Service Company in this area as well as some smaller employers. Attorney McLucas is also a graduate of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination’s Certified Discrimination Prevention Training Program which is a seven day interactive course of study run by the MCAD in conjunction with Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education. He functions as an “in-house” resource for DeMoulas relating to employment disputes and claims and has spoken at some in-house training sessions for both DeMoulas and UNICCO. Attorney McLucas has lectured for both MCLE and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys on trial and litigation tactics and techniques.
